FAQs

Questions people ask

What is Buoy?

Buoy is a calm place to make progress on habits and goals, with someone beside you if you want them there. You set a meaningful goal, turn it into a small repeatable habit, and stay connected through encouragement and weekly check-ins.

How is Buoy different from a habit tracker?

Habit trackers usually focus on what you do. Buoy also focuses on who helps you keep going. Alongside goals and streaks, you can invite someone you trust, share the progress you choose, send encouragement, and check in together.

Do I need someone else to use Buoy?

No. You can start on your own and invite someone later. Progress is better with a person beside you, but it is optional for every goal.

Can I work on multiple goals?

Yes. You can keep more than one goal at a time, choose a main goal for Home, and add new goals whenever you are ready.

What information can my partner see?

Only a person you invite, and only on the goals where sharing is turned on. Buoy does not read messages or browsing history. If a digital goal uses an optional screen-time summary, you choose whether those weekly averages are shared.

Can I change or remove a partner?

You control sharing for each goal, so you can turn progress sharing off at any time. You can also invite someone to a goal that does not have a person yet.

Is Buoy free to use?

Buoy is a CeLabs project still under construction. There is no paid plan. Join the waitlist to hear when access opens.
